Cuyahoga Falls - Howard Conway was born October 24, 1931 and died January 10, 2018. The loss is immeasurable but so is the love left behind.
A Veteran of the Korean War, he proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Laffey, DD-724. He was retired from Land ‘O Lakes in Kent. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, St. Brendan’s Division and Cuyahoga Falls VFW Post 1062. Howie was an usher at St. Eugene’s Parish for over 20 years. He enjoyed numerous golfing trips and vacations to Ireland and traveling around the country to see many of his grandchildren graduate.
We will forever cherish and retell his wonderful stories of growing up on North Hill with seven brothers and sisters, his family walking down Lucille Avenue to Mass at St. Martha’s, his childhood gang - the Bobtail Seven, running from the cops, camping in the Gorge, being fed by his friend’s Italian mothers and sneaking into the Dayton Theatre.
He was the Dad who taught his kids to swim, would come home from work and jump into the kickball or baseball game in the side yard, would take half the neighborhood sled riding, and took us on epic vacations in the woody station wagon. His whistle was known around the neighborhood and we would come running at the sound of it. We will miss his fabulous sense of humor, his dance moves, his beautiful singing voice, his warm loving hugs and especially his I Love You’s.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Helen Conway, sisters, Mary Alice (Sweetie) Tavolier, Margaret Ahern, brothers, Jay and Mike Conway, numerous brothers and sisters in law.
He is survived by the woman he laughed with every day, the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Edith (Antognoli). Together, with a lot of sleepless nights, a few tears and lots of laughter, they raised six children.
He will forever be in the hearts of and was the best Dad ever to, Marty (Patty), Karen Sentelik, Colleen (Jeff) Pallone, Shawn (Judy), Patrick (Tammy) and Mary Therese Marlborough. He was Poppa to and so proud of his 17 grandchildren, Mallory (Mike) Thomas, Corey, Dylan, Maggie (Mark) Myers, Molly (Adam) Stover, Patrick Dunlap, Jamy Sunde, Ciara, Brianna, Gabby and Aidan Sentelik, Colin, Tommy, Ryan Kremer, Emma, Fiona and Lucy Marlborough. He adored his eight great-grandchildren, Liam, Armando, Mia, Maxwell, Julian, Logan, Sonny and Maverick, who all would shout Poppa! and run to him when visiting.
He is also survived by loving sisters Helen Conway and Cathy Mehok, and brother Tom Conway. Numerous brothers and sisters in Law, including JoAnne Antognoli. Too many loving nieces and nephews and friends to count and dear friends, Jim and Sally Ricchiuto.
